Oliver Perez was officially released this morning by the New York Mets and I’m already having the best Monday morning in years. And in case you missed it, Here is Terry Collins on the whole situation:

“I want to keep guys who get people out,” Collins said Sunday. “If you have left-handers who don’t get outs, they can’t help you. If you have right-handers who have good stuff, and they get outs, I don’t care who is [batting] — they get people out.”

You can’t sum it up better than that and I’m very happy to see management starting to show this is not going to be like recent years past. All of us have been dreaming of this day for a long time now and it’s great to see it arrive…FINALLY!

Luis Castillo just signed a minor league deal with the Phillies and I don’t have a care in the world. I honestly don’t know why they would make that move unless they just want to learn more about the Mets as a team by asking a disgruntled ex-player. UPDATE: Just remembered about Chase Utley, is he that injured? If you have a better reason let me know, but at this point the Phillies look like they’re Mets garbage collectors. Do you think Ollie will be added to the list also consisting of Figueroa?

The future is looking bright Mets fans, we just need a little more patience. I’m sure things are going to turn around under Sandy Alderson and company.
